SAFARI ACTIVITIES
When on safari with us you are not limited to only 4x4 safaris, we can arrange a diverse variety of other exciting activities within and around the Ol Maisor Wilderness Area. Moving back into a private wilderness area will allow us to do what we do best – make every day amazing. From game drives and night drives to armed bush walks, fishing in the dams, and meals out in the bush, al fresco and under the stars, every excursion will be amazing! And we are adding in fly camping and camel riding to make the experience even more exciting!
BUSH WALKS
From a short nature ramble to a full on big game walk, getting out of a vehicle is the best way to hear and smell the real Africa. Also to get out and stretch your legs, especially after a long flight! *Only available by special request
DAY GAME DRIVES
Most African wildlife is habituated to seeing safari cars every day and as a result a game drive is the best (and safest) way of covering a lot of ground and getting up close to the wildlife.
MASSAGES
Massages are available upon request and need to be booked in advance. These are an extra cost and are generally done on the veranda of your tent. We only use qualified and fully licenced masseuses.
SUNDOWNERS
There is no better way than to celebrate the end of yet another exciting day on safari than watching the sun set over the rolling plains with a gin & tonic in your hands!
CAMEL SAFARI
From a short 2 hour camel ride to full day and even multi-day treks with these fascinating creatures gives a unique perspective of this enormous wilderness area. As the camels graze daily amongst the wildlife, all of the typical species, from zebras and giraffes to elephants, are accustomed to our humped friends, and when out on a ride, you can often get close (in a safe environment) to a variety of wild animals.
KIDS ACTIVITIES
Kids are our future. So why not ensure that they, too, have the safari of a lifetime. Devoid of electronic devices and allowed to get their hands dirty, safely of course! We can tailor-make an experience that your kids will cherish for a lifetime. From herding cows with the local Samburu community to learning how to make a pizza, and so much more, your kids will be entertained from sun rise to sun set.
BUSH BREAKFASTS, LUNCHES & DINNERS
Imagine having a freshly prepared breakfast completely surrounded by wildlife. This is a real specialty of ours and needs to be booked in advance.

From marriage proposals to family-moons and every special occassion, we are more than happy to go above and beyond to ensure that your special day is the most amazing day possible!
FISHING ON THE DAM
A number of the dams have been stocked with Tilapia Fish and it’s a great way to spend a few hours, sitting on the bank, watching wildlife come and go, whilst you try and outwit the fish with nothing but a rod and a lure in your hands.
HELICOPTER SAFARIS
Laikipia is the beginning of the Northern Frontier District. There are not too many roads to the north and yet the landscape and wildlife is truly spectacular. A helicopter safari gives a totally different perspective on the land below, and also allows us to explore areas that are otherwise inaccessible. From a short morning flight with a champagne breakfast awaiting us at the other end, to a longer trip to reach areas that very few people have ever visited, any heli safari is truly humbling.

NIGHT GAME DRIVES
As we are located in a private wilderness area we are privileged to be able to do night drives. This is an amazing way to see nocturnal animals such as the African Zorilla, Verruax Eagle Owl, Striped Hyenas, African Porcupines and Aardvarks . Usually the night drive takes place before or after your dinner, and often after a sundowner in the bush. Using a spotlight by your spotter or guide you will be amazed by all the shinning eyes there are out there, making this a fun evening guessing who is behind the glowing eyes.
CULTURAL EXPERIENCES
Ol Maisor is located in northern Kenya, and is surrounded by three main tribes. These are the Samburu, Pokot and a bit further north the Turkana. With prior arrangement we can organise a cultural experience to visit these communities and learn about their traditions. These are beautiful and diverse cultures worth exploring and creating a greater understanding of other ways of life.
CATTLE RANCHING & FARM VISITS
As our camp is based on an operational farm and ranch, we have the unique opportunity to observe farm life to the backdrop of giraffes and lions. From visiting the silos as the harvest is brought in to helping the herdsmen bring in the cattle at sunset, the back story of wildlife and commerce surviving side by side is an insight into the future of conservation. And we are all playing a significant role in this story. But for the purists amongst us, more than 70% of the land is set aside for wildlife – and so your dream of the raw African landscapes is on our doorstep!

PHOTOGRAPHY
At Amazing Laikipia Camp we have trained our guides to understand photographers needs and they have learnt how to position the safari cars to get the perfect shot. Our open safari car allows you to capture photos at pretty much any angle you wish, still with keeping you safe from the wildlife. From scenic vistas across the Laikipia plains to views of Mt. Kenya in the distance there is always something to see.
