THE CAMP

The Amazing Laikipia Camp is the latest project from Geoff and Suzanne (with the most recent additional – baby Tala, born in February 2025) and their passionate team of employees.

At inception the project began with a core staff of 5 as a mobile operation down in Tsavo East National Park. Five years later and the team has grown significantly and when the opportunity came to relocate from the high tourism density of the Maasai Mara Reserve to a private wilderness the team unanimously agreed that this was the right step for the family run operation. As well as receiving full time salaries and health benefits from Amazing Laikipia Camp, the team are also profit receiving shareholders, ensuring that everyone who represents Amazing Laikipia is fully invested in this project.

Our Amazing Laikipia Camp is in the heart of the Ol Maisor Wilderness Area, a 33,000 acre private wilderness that forms part of the much larger Laikipia conservancies Association, a collaboration of private and community owned conservancies consisting of over 1 million acres of protected wilderness. Our camp also being in a private 150 acres exclusive zone, which provides an important buffer zone between the wildlife and the community.

As our camp is not fenced, we regularly have wildlife passing through camp, both day and night. There is no danger to guests or wildlife and we have day and night watchmen (askari) on hand to ensure that everyone is safe.

Go to sleep with the whooping calls of hyenas, and the beautiful melody of the Nightjar. Then wake up to the wild morning chorus of White browed Robin chats, Greater Honeyguide and the Tropical Boubou. Guests will be enthralled by a multitude of birds who visit our bird baths and feeding stations throughout the day.

THE TENTS

The Tents

Our camp is specifically designed to offer every guest the chance to feel like they are the only guests in camp! Each tent is en-suite, complete with flush toilets and hot showers 24 hours a day. (Perfect for washing away the safari dust at the end of a long and enjoyable day on safari...) Comfy king size beds, duvets and luxury bedding will make for a deep sleep after a long day exploring the Laikipia wilderness. With our family unit you now don't need to worry about the kids being too far away, but will also still get the privacy and time to yourselves that all parents deserve.

All tents have their own independent solar power stations, allowing 24 hour uninterrupted power and lighting, with a universal charging station in each tent. Add on a margarita cocktail with room service and you might never want to leave!

THE FOOD

Our camp boasts some exceptional chefs, who pride themselves on food full of flavour, prepared from the freshest ingredients available.

FACILITIES

High Speed Wifi

We understand that sometimes you need to be in contact with family/friends and businesses need to keep running so we have installed Starlink in the main area.

Daily Housekeeping

Our tents have daily house keeping, which will be done while you are out on your game drive. We have laundry service which is done daily free of charge. Also every evening there is turn down service to get your room ready for the night, with a hot water bottle so the bed is nice and cosy.

In-Room & Private Dining

We happily provide room service to your tents, whether it is morning coffee with cookies, a gin & tonic in the afternoon or a private meal on your very own veranda we can accommodate hopefully all of your wishes.

Bottled Water

At our Amazing Laikipia Camp we are doing our best to reduce our carbon footprint and to lessen the burden on landfills. Therefor we do not offer complimentary plastic bottles of drinking water. Instead, we decant from larger sealed bottles into water dispensers around camp, and in your Amazing Laikipia safari car. All water (and ice) offered in our  Camp, be it at meals, on game drives, or in your room, is safe to drink and is purchased from Kenya’s premier water bottling company. Our drinking water is all complimentary but if you specifically need sealed bottles of water then these are available for purchase at an additional price. We also request guests, if possible, to bring your own reuseable water bottle – we also have branded aluminium reusable water bottles for purchase in our boutique.

Solar 24/7 Power

The Amazing Laikipia Camp is powered by the sun. We have 24 hour power in all of our rooms and within the main area. This power is 220v and so, if your phone, camera or laptop charger has a different power demand, you will need to bring an adapter. Please note that our power systems CANNOT support hair driers, hair straighteners or some models of CPAC machines. Feel free to check with us an advance if you are not sure of your power needs.

24/7 Hot Running Water

The Amazing Laikipia Camp has 24 hour hot water in all of our ensuite tents. This water is heated from solar and gas heaters. As the heaters are a discrete distance from your tent, it might take a minute or two for your shower water to heat up.

MEET THE TEAM

A camp such as ours is not a one-man band, and we are extremely lucky to have such a fun, hard working and passionate team. No request is too difficult and every member of staff takes great pleasure in hearing guests stories and there is always a warm, welcoming smile at the start and end of every safari.

Many of our staff have been with us since the beginning and it is humbling to share this journey with such an amazing team.
